CLIMATE, JOBS & JUSTICE RALLY
Recently, I had the opportunity to serve as an event videographer at a rally in Shamokin, Pennsylvania sponsored by Susquehanna Valley Progress and the Climate Reality Project.
Growing up in the coal region (specifically Shamokin), as I did, everything was tied to coal. I played baseball in the Anthracite Miner’s Little League, celebrated my 21st birthday with drinks at a bar called the Coal Hole, and watched fireworks every 4th of July that were launched from a coal mountain that loomed large over the town.
So it was a fitting place to have a discussion about the future of America’s energy policy and where once-proud coal towns like Shamokin fit in.
